Well, I picked up a copy of Shivering Isles. I haven't actually done much (I'm about five minutes into the expansion--I had to beat the rest of Oblivion's main quest first).
All I'll say is... It looks amazing. I don't want to spoil anything just yet

Does it work like the official plugins, where it immediately gives you a journal entry when you install it or start a new game, or is it like KotN where it's integrated into the game? It looks pretty awesome but I'm not in a big rush to get it yet. I'm doing my 2nd playthrough, 100 hours/37 levels in and I still haven't visited Chorrol/Skingrad/Kvatch/Anvil. :D

Kind of. This information is pretty freely available and isn't much of a spoiler:
After about a day, an island containing a 'mysterious portal' rises up from Niben Bay. You get a journal entry about it, but it isn't just random.

Oh my! It does sound intriguing!
Do you think the downloaded version will work with a russian-translated copy? (All the other official plugins do)
EDIT:
Hadn't realized it sells in hard copies only :(

Picked it up today and did a few minutes of mucking about. Nothing much to say really but...wow.

Bought it yesterday and have been playing most of today. It looks amazing, the textures are sharper than Oblivion.
The scenary is very much like an updated Vvardenfell. I would have liked to have seen a bit more to the towns, but then I suppose it's in keeping with the story. The madcap conversations are beginning to pall slightly, but then so far it appears that there's a bit less repetition than in Oblivion itself.
There appears to be a slight problem with conversations; I don't know if anyone else has experienced this. One or two main characters are mute and their subtitles disappear too quickly to read. As they are integral to the story this is a bit of a pain.
Great so far, slightly darker in atmosphere than Oblivion, and far better than getting getting killed over and over again in STALKER.

Learn to aim, get better armor, and be willing to take an occasional bullet to the chest instead of cowering behind some old dumptruck with all the rest of the giant poontangs. Those are the secrets to being a successful stalker. Also vodka.
And next week, I too will visit the Shivering Isles. I just reinstalled Oblivion, so I'm getting ready.

Should I start with a new character or would it be more fun with a character with a few levels under the belt? I know you can do either but I wonder whether it’ll just be boring with nothing challenging with my existing characters and too hard with a brand new one. After all I don’t want to have to do the same missions from oblivion that I’ve done before just to level up a bit.
