I listened to an NPR segment on her shortly before her heart attack where she was talking about her new book. It was all about her diaries during the filming of the first Star Wars. Until then I had not known her and Ford had relations on the set. Well I'm sure they waited till they were off set but you know. Strange she died so early. It never crossed my mind she would die. I don't suppose it crossed hers either.
Like most my age I watched the trilogy and the first I saw several times. I wasn't a nut about it but it was ground breaking and thrilled the nerd in me of which there is plenty. I never pulled an Eric Foreman over her but she had a fond place in my memories. Her death saddens me. Shit what a fucked up year for my misspent youth. It didn't do those who died much good either.

As a very smart, funny, eloquent and accomplished woman who will be mostly remembered for that time she looked hot in a novelty bikini, Fisher will always be sort of emblematic of everything that was wrong in the 70's and continues to be wrong today. She was a serious dude. RIP.

If you have to take a silver lining to dying before time, it's living without ever experiencing the sensation of being near the end. Obviously this only applies to age-related death.
