This was one of the most dissappointing movies. I had high expections and it fell extremely flat. Not one portion of the movie was memorable; it just needed alot more excitement. I can't think of one good scene from this movie.
There were way too many comic lines, making me wonder what the creators were going for exactly. Horror? Parody? DaFoe did fairly well, but most the time was just spent showing off his make-up job, the only good part of the whole movie.

from what I've read I think they were going for parody, Siftland. A "what if thay guy who made that old silent film Nosferatu wasn't ripping off Dracula, but rather was making a vampire documentary" scenario.

It is a far, far better thing to keep a firm anchor in nonsense than to set out on the troubled waters of thought.

It wasnt as good as i expected, but the acting was amazing.

Saw the preview, got the joke, and figured the odds of there being enough more in the movie to make it worth seeing were pretty low. Is there much to it besides the guy playing Dracula actually being a vampire?

Eight and a half years later... this is still one of my favorite movies. I watched it again tonight. In my opinion, this is one of John Malkovich's best jobs as an actor.
I know this is extreme necro-post unearthing, but I thought it fitting for Halloween if someone out there has never seen this movie. Hilarious and creepy and extremely well done.

Fittingly, this might be the deadest thread ever resurected.
