Dude, I totally know what you mean - Martin isn't exactly the most BRILLIANT AUTHOUR EVER, but the point of the series is that there is a KICKING plot that drags you in and doesn't let go. He's not afraid to make fantasy TRASHY in the true sense of the word, and in that way, we must applaud him. I'll tell you this much - at least we can all take a bit out of the ASOIAF epic and relate to it in our own life.
