Considering Realdoll is something like $3000 as it is now, I can't see much market for these.

Well...sooner or later society will have to deal with this sort of thing.
The big question is will machines ever become sentient? If yes, what then?
You know I've read a lot of Asimov's non-fiction but never any of his fiction. Perhaps I should start. :erm:

my data structures class had an interesting, however nerdy, discussion with our professor about emotions and AI, brought on by the father of AI, (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Minsky) Marvin Minsky coming to a conference in Orlando. The man's claims about AI and intelligence is damn interesting, and in reality it is difficult to claim that humans feel emotions differently than AI's do. Atleast that was the final determination from our post-minsky discussion...rather an odd one looking back on it:erg:

First I thought to say "That'll never happen or at least not any time soon", but I guess that was dodging the question.
Then I wanted to say "Then we're fucked, because it's easier to make an adult robot than adult human and they're much tougher".
Then I thought "Does this mean that sentient robots are next step in evolution and in fact a part of the whole Life thing?".
Then it struck me - "Since we're pretty much a sophisticated tools made by DNA to replicate itself, what would make the robots make more of themselves? What would be the driving force for them to exist as a 'species'?".
So finally I concluded, "I dunno lol".

You gotta define what sentience is first. Is sentience consciousness similar to animals or humans? Is it defined by intelligence or awareness of one's self? What determines sentience? Is sentience or the result of sentience a biological energy given off by living things (in other words, is it part of a soul that an artificial being could never be given)?

I hope you'll be able to give these robots robo-hol and they'll get wasted and 10x sluttier.
