There's the hiccup: the game will seem to pause for an instant, stop displaying any new changes on screen, then continue on like nothing happened, and do this every few seconds for minutes on end.
I've got the same problem and its source is crappy sound card drivers - they leak resources with EAX, Dolby Surround or anything like this enabled, so every once in a while I've got to reboot.

It's hard to get all 3 cameras turned off due to the mouse moving so slowly, but I can usually manage it. Still, does anyone know what might be causing this?
Again, I've got the same thing - then again, my computer is quite ancient so it might be just the effort of displaying three separately animated views at the same time. A tip here: use keyboard shortcuts for all kind of panel work... Once you've got the hang of it (i.e. memorise the required key combo), you will be able to rip security terminals apart - disable all cameras, unlock/open all doors and reset turrets - in seconds.

Sometimes, during conversations JC has with someone, there's very short drop outs in the sound.
And again, not an unfamiliar experience. What kind of audio hardware have you got?

Did you try switching to OpenGL mode (or back to DirectX mode if you were already on it?)
I haven't tried that yet, but I'll probably resume work on my walkthrough later today, so I'll remember to try it. :thumb:

By shortcuts I'm guessing you mean just hit tab and enter until the options are changed to what you want? Probably would be alot easier than trying to change the options by hand, so to speak. It's so weird, because sometimes I can't get more than 2 cameras shut off before I almost run out of time, but other times the mouse isn't slowed down too much, and I can shut off cameras, change around turrets, etc., and still have a few seconds left. :weird:

Nothing special, poked through device manager a little, seems to be a Realtek AC97 Audio card.

Nope :p Hold Alt, then press the underlined letter to use the option. Activate the terminal, hold Alt, 1, c, a, d, e, e, 2 and so... Works like a charm. And for where you have logins and passwords available, the copy-paste mechanism works in DX as well.

Has it got EAX or any other fancy settings?
TheNightTerror on 20/1/2005 at 13:09
Well, I know it can handle EAX sound, when enabled in games I can definitely hear a difference, and I also have Dolby Surround Sound enabled in DX, I think I can hear a difference there, too. Or heard one when I first got the demo, I remember compulsively plugging my 2.1 speakers into my laptop when I heard the new music, and found myself drooling like a handicap at the amount of extra bass I was hearing. :p
If you mean something else let me know, sleep is calling me away right now, so my mind might not be working properly.

Weird problems indeed. My old computer used to lag when hacked to security systems. The videocard was too slow to dislpay so many screens at the same time. But I don't see why your computer would lag in that situation.
I also had problem with cutted sound with my new computer, where people ended their sentences all the sudden. :) I got it fixed by setting vertical sync on.
No help from those I think. I hope you get it fixed.
