Hello to any one who reads this, and thank you for replaying to it (If you did)!
I have System Shock 2, I insert the CD under my OS (XP w/ SP2), Auto run
shows up, I press install and that's it, no response no life, nada, no reaction
of what's or ever from the installer, I never had this problem before.
So I have T1/2 and I know that you have to force it to install on NT based
system, but that didn't work too. Installing T1/2 works great, but SS2, No
go on my system. I try setting compability mode on the "SETUP.EXE" to
Win95, Win 98SE /ME and Windows 2000, but still no GO, I've also tried
waiting like 2 hours, but no response fropm setup ither... WTF  ?!
Any idea's?
Thanks in advance for your replayes!

There is two ways to install it:* Boot to (
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm) Safe Mode and start installation at there.* Go in to your SS2 CD and copy contents of SHOCK2 directory to your hard drive. Then you need to create file called install.cfg and put these lines in it:
Code:
cd_path V:\
install_path .
language english
resname_base .
load_path .
script_module_path .
movie_path .\cutscenes
Remember to replace V:\ with your CD-ROM drive letter.
Put this file in that directory where you copied those files from SHOCK2 directory.

If you use the latter technique then you won't be able to install the 2.3 update, because the updater looks for a registry key that's created when System Shock 2 is properly installed.
So to fix that, try <a href="http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1549060#post1549060">following the instructions here</a>.

Then it'd start raining threads about technical difficulties. :p

Why are threads that obviously belong there not simply merged into the FAQ? Impossible?
And why can't people put their questions there? They don't have to read the whole thread for all I care. But please!
I've seen forums that are constantly cluttered by the same questions being asked over and over again. And I don't like it one bit. It obstructs normal, productive conversations. It even obstructs normal, nonproductive conversations!!

Just move these threads to CommChat. Let nature take its course.

To The Brain and Vigil thank you very much!
To Vigil, well, while in "Safe Mode" I ran the installer, installed
to my HD and then ran the 2.3 update (Still beeing in "Safe Mode",
the update, worked like a charm) afterwards I booted in to
"Normal Mode" and ran the game, it run great, thanks again for
the HELP.
I'm sorry for beeing such an arrs, but when ever I had a problem with T1/2 I went
to the right thread, read it and searched for an answear (Almost allways, I
would find the right answear in the Thief 1/2 FAQ) and it would work for me.
Now, before you go on a flame here, I want to say that I've passed trough
both of the SS FAQ's and I haven't seen an answear to what happenes if :
"Setup WON'T start, what should I do?"
or
"Setup is running in the background and won't launch, what should I do?"
If I missed one of those, then I'm sorry, but When I come to the thife forums
I find my answears in the FAQ at beggining.
I'm sorry if I made angry someone in here. ;)
