(Sshock2)
Does anyone not load a previous game after setting off an alarm? It just seems to me the foolproof way of dealing with it.
The only reason why someone would choose another approach, is that they never load a saved game, ever. In this case I'm curious about other "deus ex machina" (methods of getting out of situations) you may have developed.
the Tier 1 PSI ability Remote Electron Tampering: Reduces security alarm timers by 5 seconds plus another 5 seconds per PSI.
Do you ever use this??

Setting off an alarm is hard in the first place, since security consoles are one of the easiest things to hack in the game(actually I think they are THE easiest thing to hack in the game). I don't think it ever actually happened to me.
As for loading, sure, you can quicksave all the time if that's your thing. Most people hovewer try to limit their savescumming. For example, try relying only on autosaves in bulkheads. Makes the game more tense, interesting and of course harder.
Remote Electron Tampering is worthless. In the time it takes you to select and cast it and wait for the rest of the alarm to expire you could run to a security console and turn it off yourself.

I'm one of the "savewhores" but it's more of a "shit crashes, loose 3 hours of progress" reason...

So what you're saying is that you play SS2 like a fool.

Sweet holy fuck, that is not even
close to what "deus ex machina" means.
Hey, here's a crazy idea-- If/when you set off an alarm, just go use the nearest security station. Bam, alert over, and you didn't even lose any progress. You'll probably even turn a profit from looting any spawned hybrids.
Yeesh.
