Yes, I disagree. Why aren't they giving the money to charities that help
people. Animals are way down on the priory list to people imho.
Your use of "imho" is where I really lost it :laff:

Yeah, and what's with the Sierra Club and that goddamm Greenpeace?!?! I mean, fuck them! They should use that money to help PEOPLE!
I was watching 20/20 (American "news" show), and they had a special on the Guiness Book of World Records. One guy was making his living making the world's largest house of cards and the reporter asked him, in all seriousness, "Why don't you use your talents and energy doing something to help out the world?" (or words to that effect). This from an Entertainment News reporter doing a show on the Guiness Book of World Records.
There are all kinds of things I can spend my own money and time on, and I am the one that chooses. If I spend $1,000,000 on elective surgery for my pet ocelot so he stops snoring at night that turns out to be my right in a (mostly) capitalist society, even if someone else thinks I should have spent it on something more "worthwhile".

Of course people can spend whatever they want on whatever the want. I don't want to stop this woman doing whatever she likes. I just think it's a bit silly.

I'm sure they'd prefer living in one as opposed to a world where there wouldn't be any room to breathe. That's where we'd all be if we followed their example. At least, sooner, rather then later.
The same way someone who is hungry won't care much about philosophical debates, someone who feels his life is empty and meaningless won't care much about such abstract problems.
I had a friend who had a lot of money problems. After paying his mortgage, utility bills, basic food and other small things, including things for the one kid he already had, he barely had any money left. Yet, he decided to have another kid. He didn't care much about the fact he didn't had any money to pay for it, he comforted himself by imagining that things would get better with time or that he would find a way to make more money one way or the other.
So if people can "forget" about their own immediate problems, do you really think they'll be able to think about something as fuzzy as the general environment's limitation? People are not that intelligent.
