Yep, that's a takeoff of the Stanglehold demo.
Yep, Penny Arcade is not really funny.
Yep, if you want to see something disturbing, go watch Pink Flamingos by John Waters to see Divine eat dog crap. That's disturbing :p

While I've found the comic occasionally funny, it's just not consistent enough to bother reading. Plus, the guys who write are, while charitable folks, are also egotistical assholes, and they get on my nerves.
Just got to make sure I keep that to myself at PAX.

I enjoy penny arcade at least enough to read the last few comics every couple weeks. Oh, and I'm going to PAX too.

See, I like Penny Arcade precisely
because they're egotistical assholes. They're like the Rug Burn Junky of webcomics. Only more charitable.
I guess their target audience is those of us who still think that someone getting shot in the nuts is just
inherently funny. :D

I actually have generally found it pretty funny, especially when they made strips about tribes and SS2 (oh god so long ago).

Penny Arcade is a comic made by funny guys who don't have the first clue how to structure their ideas into amusing comic strips. There's generally something funny bouncing around in each strip, but they still haven't figured out how to filter it and apply the correct structure and pacing to make good comedy.
Occasionally aiming a little higher than the obvious joke wouldn't hurt, either.

I thought the strip was quite funny, and no offense Stitch, but the PA guys seem to have figured out enough of the mechanics of funny to, you know, make a pretty good living at it.

There are so many good strips to chose from but most of the time you need to read the news item that comes with the comic to get most out of it. Anyways, here's my pick:

I have to agree, I don't always find PA laugh-out-loud funny but I think these guys know what they're doing and have honed their art to a pretty polished state.
