Am I the only one who finds this badly wrong? Who the hell makes a game(or a comic) about destroying a man's most precious possesion?:eww:
my nuts are aching just looking at it:o

Is Penny Arcade actually funny sometimes? Or do people just like it because of some kind of misplaced nerd solidarity?
aguywhoplaysthief on 15/8/2007 at 10:18
Oh good, I'm not alone.
While I'd be considered part of the gaming "community", I've never gotten a Penny Arcade strip. Either I don't understand what they are referencing (as is true in this one), or I do, but I think the presentation falls flat.

It is sometimes funny, but yeah... there's not enough that I can easily relate to in most of the strips.
I didn't find this strip particularly disturbing, but that's probably because I played too much of the original Soldier of Fortune when it was released. Shooting people in the 'nads never got old in that game. :ebil:
I did find (
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=229) this a little more disturbing.
But I /
heart/ VGCats anyway. Gotta love all that tongue-in-cheek irreverence.

You kid. I know you have a sense of humour in there somewhere. PA comics are often very funny. True sometimes the reference is over my head, but when it isn't they're just harsh enough to be amusing without being purile.
I actually think this current one is mocking the pointless nature of 360 achievements but I'm not sure.

I must confess to enjoying both PA and VGCats, though I find the latter more amusing more regularly. Don't have a problem with the strip in question, either.

I think it's also referencing the recently released demo of Strangehold, hence the nuts-targeting.
henke on 15/8/2007 at 16:54
Don't remember any "nuts-targeting" in the Stranglehold demo, and I've played through it like 5 times already. I think it's more just supposed to be a random 360 game and it's making fun of the way people will spend countless hours doing stupid shit just to get some achievement points. Heh, yeah it's kinda shit. So is that VGcats strip.

Took me ages to figure it out. I noticed Scott's post about a friend practicing that in Viva Pinata, which was when it all kinda clicked into place. It's still disturbing shit, tho'. :D
