This game has finally forced me to upgrade my eight-year-old graphics card. Anyone else interested? It comes out September 24.
The trailers out now show very little, but the main innovation seems to be drawing ~100000 enemies on screen at once. What the teasers leave out, however, is whether you can interact with these hordes in any meaningful way, or whether they're just background. It would be a treat to send Sam's rapid-fire rockets into densely packed hordes on a distant hillside and watch the bodies fly.
Arena shooters and platformers (metroidvania or hardcore) seem to be the only genres where I can achieve a state of flow, and the latter require more focus and/or memory than I can devote now. So, if it's not a huge disappointment (we're talking Serious Sam 2 levels of disappointment, not Serious Sam 3 levels) it will serve a nice emotional role.
