Scandinavian Film Festival? That close?
I should've walked there! Umm... what country was it again?

Okay I have to see it for that. I'm not familiar with Firefly but I've always wanted to see an actiony sci-fi done without sound.
I actually works rather well in the series. With (some damn fine) background music in those longer space scenes you won't even miss the sounds.

I've actually seen only one episode of Firefly, but the movie has got me rather excited. And having quite a bit of dough at the moment; another trip to movies doesn't sound so bad. So, no previous knowledge of the series required? :erg:

Sweden. City of Lund (Malmö). Southern part. Close to Denmark/Copenhagen. Tickets were real cheap too ;)

Nope

Should one who thought the trailer looked hilarious and hasn't seen Firefly (but fully intends to) go see it?
I guess what I'm getting at is: is it a polished science-fiction movie, or is it a movie of a popular sci-fi tv show? There's usually a difference.
Evidence? Star Trek movies versus Alien, for example.

I'd second that. I saw the film last week & had barely even heard of Firefly. Good film, really shows how bad certain other films have been.

TV-show movie. However, it stands alone quite well by giving you needed info for what's going on.
Though anyone telling you about it is probably someone who watched the series and then went to a preview and feels they have to big up their favourite series. Grain of salt required.

If I hate Joss Wheeeedon like I hate infected bites, will I like this film?

I was persuaded to go to the preview by someone who is a big fan of the tv series and seems desperate to convert everyone. It was a free ticket so I thought it was worth a try, and I enjoyed the film a lot.

(Without spoilers), how does the movie end? Does it resolve everything, so it would be difficult to continue the series after that, or does it leave enough things open for another movie/renewal of the series?
It resolves the River Thing in a way that, while feeling like "holy shit, need explanation for crazy" came out with a good story which I enjoyed. It ends with flying off to be dodgy reprobates again, so it leaves things open for more of the same.
Though rabid fangirls I know have been saying the aim is for movies, not a continuation of the series, I personally will not place bets on what form any further Firefly will take as 1: Not into following it therefore I have no authority to say anything, 2: Who the fuck can guess at the zany decisions people make in these sorts of things?
