Hi, I want to start once again, this time with a self-made adventurer. I´m now playing as a highelf battlemage, but he´s got some certain disadvantages (to slow, axe-skills, some skills I don´t use,...).
Now I need a bit help to create a reasonable mixture.
Here´s what my char should be:
He should be quite fast, be able to defend himself in melee and should also be able to cast some magic.
I thought of the following main skills:
-Long Blade or Short Blade (I think you can find more good swords than axes, spears,...)
-One armor-skill (which one is best?)
-Acrobatics (to speed up level-ups)
-Athletics (to make long-distance-travel less boring)
-Destruction (for some cool combatmagic)
-Alteration (mostly for opening doors)
-Enchantment (for creating powerful items)
Is this a silly combination I think of, or does someone use similar chars successfully?
Which skills shall I use as primary/secondary? And: there are 3 skills left, what to choose?
What would be good key attributes?
And: What race? Dark elf maybe?
Thanks very much!

It sounds like you want to create a 'powerful' character, if so, yeah, that's a good way to go.
To be honest, if you use melee, you won't use destruction much for effect, only for show. Opening locks is suprisingly a good thing to have, locks shouldn't even be in the game due to how easy it is to get lockpick open spells, and they're just annoying etc.
I would 'suggest' you put in some sort of healing ability, that's what I used most in my battlemage, put that instead of enchant.
Long blade and axe are good ones to use, the most damaging weapon in the game is the Daedric Axe, but probably the best is the Daedric Dai'Katana due to its speed.
Of course, the game is so easy that if you put strategy into making your character (rather than making a roleplaying character like a 'thief' or 'healer') you'll be pretty damn overpowered.

My Advice, in order to not make it overly easy this is what you should do with you major skills.
1. one Weapon Type
2. one Armor Type
3. security or stealth
4. Alchemy or Armorer
5. One Magic Type or Mercantile
Th Weapon and armor sould take care of most of you leveling needs, you not in a hurry anyways, just these two aloe already makes the game easy, wat to kick youself in the ass specialize in no armor or weapons, an just creation abiities. security or stealth... well unless youwant to b an outright theif take only one. One of the creation abilities will keep the game ntertng as you gather material to create stuff, reall just vanity skill to keep it a bit off combat and pillaging. A magic type if you pan on using magic, I don't since it's such a hassle except if I need to heal, but if you like me, go with Mercantile it'll make getting good deal in the begginging stretch easier, later this really becomes useless since you'll bagain with your weapon.
Well that's my recommendation for decently powered charahter withou going overboard.

My character seems to fit your bill:
Dunmer Deji (as in Jedi, because I found that their skills are very similar)
Major:
Long Blade: Just thought that it is cool.
Light Armour: It's, well, light. Good for jumping about.
Destruction: I don't really use this much now since I found out that my sword is more effective, but it was quite useful in the beginning. Good for starting fights. Go to a spellmaker to create some area effect damaging spells with duration to soften up crowds.
Enchant: Even at low level, I could make some pretty nifty items. Of course you can pay people to do it, but it cost too much.
Acrobatics: Besides making levelling up very easy, I could jump really high with boosted strength. Good in combat.
Minor:
Alchemy: Ingredients are free, and you could make make really useful potions. Plus you can make money with it. Good for levelling up when you have enough ingredients and decent skills.
Restoration: Wasted skill that I never used, since I depend on my enchanted items and potions for my restorative needs.
Mysticsm: Another wasted skill.
Athletics: Make running faster I guess, but I don't notice it because it's so gradual.
Block: From my experience with some enemies, this skill could really save your butt at high level. That is if you decided to forgo the more powerful 2-handed weapons.
