Seem to be stuck at level 26. - by bassmanret

Hi,
I found Morrowind on ebay really cheap so decided to finally give it a try, and am VERY glad I did. I've been playing just over a week, and it has consumed my every spare minute. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Thief.
Anyway, I recently leveled up to 26, and it seems as though I should have been well on my way to 27 by now, but my level-up progress meter (0-10) still shows zero even though I've received a great deal of training (at least 10 or 12), have been sneaking and lockpicking, and generally have been playing as usual which formerly advanced me toward level-ups quite well.
I guess what I'm asking for is confirmation that I haven't run into some kind of bug that prevents leveling. I've searched generically for this type of problem and so far haven't found any mention of it, so perhaps I just need to keep playing. I've read that only training your main skills counts toward your leveling-up, so maybe I just haven't "triggered" the correct skills yet.
My worst fear is that I keep playing for hours, then find out there is a bug which requires me to load a saved game prior to the bug, thereby wasting all those hours of non-leveling playtime.
Any suggestions would be most welcome!

If you're not sure whether you trained any major/minor skills yet, you could try to train one of them to a higher skill level and see if the character level progress meter goes up by one. If not, it is a bug, but one I had not heard of so far.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the training I had was not on my major/minor skills, but I have been doing alot of actual use of them. It must be that I just haven't actually used the major/minor skills enough to advance them yet. I'll keep a close eye on either sneak, security or athletics/acrobatics and see if I can make them go up.
The fact that you haven't heard of this makes me feel a little better. It sounds like I just need to keep playing and checking my major/minor skills often.
Thanks! :)
EDIT: Yep, I guess I'd just lost patience for a little while there. I played through my "non-leveling hump", and am currently at level 40. Good God, this game eats up my life!!!
