I found something quite strange on Liberty Island (in the first mission), my apologises if it was already known. ;) (It is likely to after three years, but who knows?)
Don't you think that Paul is a bit annoying from time to time? He dares not answering your questions about Hong-Honk and keeps trying to change the subject. His advises are not that useful either, a dock is not *exactly* the place where you are expected to talk about your family. So let's forgive him for make a change.
If you run fast enough, you may escape Paul on the docks and he will not engage the conversation if he is not close to you. However, he will follow you so as to have a discussion, you will have to run past the NSF in order to arrive to a place he cannot reach.
The game will proceed as normal, except that even though you will have the normal conversation with the informer, you will not earn any experience point for that. Rather weird since you will be granted with these points when meeting the NSF leader. Alex Jacobson warns you to *not* leave without meeting Paul, but he will not complain any more after that.
Sadly Paul is not upset when you meet him at UNATCO HQ, I would love him to ask JC why he ran away. ;) Nevertheless, Deus Ex is truly a great game since it allows you to do things that were not expected, and still succeed, even if you do not have Paul's assistance for the mission. (He will not give you neither the map of the island nor an additionnal weapon of course.)
