-More extremely rare prototypes coming out of the woodwork. The movies always gave the impression that Skynet was pulled offline not too long after sending the original assassins through the time displacement equipment, since it was a very last resort and a long shot at best. Sending shit through takes a tremendous amount of energy, when would it have had the time and resources to send so many things on various missions? Not only that. I liked the episode in general, I even accepted John's little stunt although I found it was weak writing, but right now I can't get past it that final twist...
We have basically a T-1000 back to the past to ensure the creation of Skynet? Or what? The whole thing about Terminator is that humans fucked up big time and their creations destroyed them. Individual paradox are fun to discuss, but I wouldn't want to see Skynet become one. It's taking the fate of humanity out of humanity's hands.I'm also curious to see how the FBI agent will evolve.
To be continued.

I actually didn't like the season two premiere that much. Sure, it was full of action. But there were a lot of little things - and one big moment - that destroyed my suspension of disbelief.
That big moment is, of course, concerning what John did about Cameron at the end of the episode. He acted like a ridiculous fool.
Also, while the "twist" at the end was "cool", it felt completely unnecessary. At least, at this point in the story, anyway. It's like the producers decided they had had to throw in some cool shit at the end, to grab your attention, and that's the only reason they did it. They could have strung along the audience about whether or not this person was a Terminator, for a much longer period of time if they wanted to.
And while this week's episode was a much more by-the-numbers affair, I think I liked it better simply because they weren't trying so hard to get you hooked. Though I do have one significant beef with the story.
How is it that Skynet was able to send a Terminator that looked like Greenway? Considering that "all the records before the war" were destroyed and Skynet has always had such a difficult time tracking down Sarah and John, how could Skynet have made a Terminator that was a perfect imitation of Greenway?
Even if you took into account the idea that the Greenway Terminator could have changed its appearance the same way Cromartie did, it really seems to be stretching the limits of believability. Did the real Greenway visit a plastic surgeon, too? Who just happened to have details on his face appearance and measurements? And this Terminator forced this other plastic surgeon to make him look like Greenway? :p
The third episode is looking pretty good, though. And the fourth could either be amazing, or a disaster, depending on how they handle it. Plotline spoilers for the next two episodes follow.
- The third episode is about the Cromartie Terminator kidnapping Charley Dixon's wife.
- The fourth episode is about Cameron's CPU glitching, and she "forgets" her mission and even who/what she is for a time. As she struggles to recover her memory, there are flashforwards into the future, revealing more about her background.

I thought I was the one who is supposed to be bitching about this show, redrain85. While the season 2 premiere did have its very brief moments where it almost convinced me I was watching the Terminator, that's it. I already complained about the last bit of the premiere, and 202 didn't really have anything whatsoever to offer at all. I was only half watching it, so I was surprised to see another T-1XX and not another 1000 as the impersonator; however, after all the stupid shit this show has pulled so far, I didn't feel the need to bitch about it as much this time.

And Terminator 3 also raised the probability of Skynet's creation being intentional on Skynet's part, what with the T-X planting the virus that forced the military to bring Skynet on-line.

Well, after significant improvement toward the end of the first season . . . with the second season, we're back at square one again. The season two premiere almost completely wiped out any progress that had been made.
I'm severely disappointed in the show right now. Though I'd laugh, if it repeats the same trend as in the first season. Starts off shitty, then gets much better.

I haven't seen the new Terminator eps yet, probably won't for a while. But good tip on Eureka folks. Quite a charming little show that one. Strikes a clever balance between simplified lightweight US suburban stuff and genre savvy geekiness. So far anyway (halfway through the first season).
In other news; everyone says True Blood and Fringe are at best "meh", confirm/deny?
Fafhrd on 18/9/2008 at 02:47
True Blood is kind of terrible, but I'm going to give it a couple of more episodes before I drop it entirely. Fringe is surprisingly decent, if only for John Noble playing a mad scientist. But it's a genre show on Fox that isn't based on a pre-existing franchise, so they'll probably move it to Friday nights in a couple of weeks and then kill it at the end of the season.

I haven't seen any True Blood yet but I'll give anything Alan Ball does a run for its money.
The_Raven on 18/9/2008 at 03:08
I found the Fringe pilot to be incredibly boring and trite. God, I hope these guys don't fuck up Star Trek.

I'm glad to report that the third episode of this season's Sarah Connor Chronicles, was infinitely better than the first two. At least, I thought so, anyway. The ratings seem to agree. They were up from the previous two.
Let's see how the fourth episode turns out. Disaster, or on par with last season's sixth episode: Dungeons and Dragons? (The future war episode.)
