Both kinds of scientist hazmat suits have blue nightvision. I found this inefficient because it only barely intensifies the light. Military armors have green infravision which intensifies the light much better, but yes, it has an ugly blurry image. Don't know about more advanced armor types. I find their constant sound effect quite disturbing and there is an ugly *CRACK*at the end of the sound file used for turning it off - sounds bad in my earphones. I'd welcome either a B/W nightvision or a thermal infravision, as seen in Splinter Cell and AvPs, that would be something!
While the green one is useful in open areas when you need to spot snipers from far away, searchlight is great in underground, because you just fear for your life more and it forces you to proceed more carefully. Remember the best moments in Doom3 or Penumbra when you had to explore the darkness with searchlight and you have it. And I like to admire the dynamic shadows.
Mutants illuminated with your searchlight cast particularly nice dynamic shadows. :ebil:

Yeah the purple night vision is a heck of a lot better than the green one. You get it on the orange egologist suit, the improved green ecologist suit and the SEVA suit. I think there may also be an exo with it, though I haven't found it.
Hmm, seems I didn't realise there was a page 5, oh well.

Sounds like the one that has been called "blue" in this thread. I've been calling it "blue" as well but you may be right and it's actually purple. Close or the same as the general background color on these forums.

I prefer the blue NV on the scientists' suits too; IMO a lot SHARPER than the blurry green NVG Actually I never realised there was a green NV on some of the other suits until towards the end of the story; by then I'm hooked onto the blue NV and made treks back specially to purchase new SEVA suits.

Never used Night Vision, found it to be irritating. Gotta wonder tho, can enemies see your flashlight, e.g ya sneak up to someone and switching it on makes them notice you? :o

Yeah, your flashlight makes you much more visible while nightvision makes you louder. better off using neither if you want to sneak.

I have wondered the same. I kept the flashlight off while sneaking around the military base in Cordon when stealing documents for Sidorovich and I got a lot farther with it off than on.
Darkness, in other words, is Marked One's best friend.

I have reached Military Base and made attack on Freedom HQ (yes, I am Duty inclined). That was quite a difficult operation, first I had to take down four snipers (who are pertty dangerous) and then I had to kill the leader. True urban combat, I was taking cover behind every piece of junk because new Freedom reinforcements were coming to to deal with me. Whew.
And I've been through Red Forrest, cut my path through sneaky Monolith members and turned off the Brain Scorcher. This is even better experience than Yantar.
Now I'm gonna explore Red Forrest a bit (without fear of hallucinations) and then - Pripyat waits for me!
(It looks like I finish the game before second patch comes out afterall)

Is this patch out yet?
If not, is anyone clued in to when it does?
