You can get that upgraded scientist suit for free as a reward...
if you bring the scientist Ghost's Armor, which you can find in the psi installation.
Yeah, I remember buying the green hazmat for my trek into the red forest, it must have lasted all of about... well, not long at all, it got shot to pieces and was giving me worse protection than a stalker suit, I was losing loads of health from radiation. Eventually I dumped it for some other crappy armour I found which handily didn't have night vision for all of the underground bit.

I find all kinds of nightvision inconvenient to use. Searching dark places with flashlight is far more atmospheric.

Except the range on the default flashlight is ridiculously short. It doesn't get dimmer over distance or anything, it just won't shine on anything more than a few metres in front of you. Luckily I just got a mod to make it a bit better...

Yes, the green nightvision comes handy in open areas, while searching underground areas with flashlight makes them twice as creepy.

I would never go around with a scientist suit, no matter the stats. There's no style in it. ;)
Anyway, the range of the torch is easily tweakable. I've doubled its range but I also use Darker Nights mod. The range of the light seems so sweet and realistic I don't want to use nightvision anymore.

Wait, nightvision is inconvenient because the flashlight is more atmospheric?
I just use the tool that gives me more ability to see in darkness.

I've heard that there's a suit with blue coloured night vision, instead of the regular type, has anyone actually used it?
It doesn't seem like it'd be much of an improvement on the normal night vision, unless it's some kind of infrared vision.

That's the one I have right now, but I don't recall what it's called or where I got it.
The night vision is far less washed out and quite crisp.

The green scientist suit (the best one) and at least one other armor have this nightvision. It's not blurry at all, so it's a lot better than green. It also doesn't seem to white out as much, but I might just not be remembering correctly.
