You can make hollow objects just fine. The explosion of my Scrambler grenade has one of those Command shuttle shield domes only it expands and has a proper inside so you can see it if you're inside it. (and you usually are)
Objects only dissapear if you're inside them and they don't have any data for their inside 'crust'.
Still, fitting every level in a giant object would probably be buggy and difficult to get working, that and it'd probably have to be a special one for every level, I don't think it's worth it given how little of the skybox you get to see during your ss2 travels.
I think you can animate the skybox's texture and make it flip through as many as 20 frames though. That could be worth it, but I'm not an artist.

Heres a bit of an oddity that i've come across whilst playing through this mod:
Inline Image:
http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/7571/dump0096vm.jpgthis monkey is dead and lootable but has a full hp bar that cannot be lowered.
Also where did you put the card for hydro A?

A thin field of scaled-bitmap 'star' particles could be used to give the illusion of starts flying past.

Hey, TF, Mucho Gracias for the nice mod. Haven't played through the entire thing, but so far so good. Some issues, though. Pardon me if this sounds confusing, but when I'm on Med/Sci, and return from the area where I had to use a charged power cell to get into in the first place, Med/Sci appears to be choppy; by choppy, I mean that when I move, everything is slow (like lag on a server). I'm running Win XP, made sure the game had the patch, and installed the patch files for your mod(the patches on your first post, at least). Also, where is the smart gun and the plasma UZI? BTW, the throwable gernades...nice touch!

A very good sounding idea...not the most realistic however....that star trek thing of having stars go by is no good when you think about how far away they really are....the only time you get away with moving stars is when the frame of reference is rotating...like citadel... for the VB the only movement that might be goin on outside is stuff like derelict objects, comets, stuff like that...a planet here or there.

Only 20 frames? That's just good enough for a carousel.
What about rotating the level inside the skybox?

Is that even doable? Even if it is, it sounds like a design nightmare
It also brings to mind the old joke about idiots and lightbulbs.:p

Don't know about that choppiness, I'll investigate.
You can find a plasma uzi in Hydro and a smartgun in Rec.

Can you tell me how the athletics card got where it was?...it just seems impossible that it was there of all places.
Also do you realise how hard you've made it for me to run about with my wrench? The only good thing is that the military bots destroy themselves at the cost of your own life  but I will not let these things stop me from my goal :p just a bit further now :cheeky:

A masochistic crew member put it there, obviously.
Why wrench? Did you run out of ammo early?
