I created a (
http://www.strangebedfellows.de/ttlgplugs/ttlg_searchplugins.html) few search plugins for Firefox (and IE) that search TTLG.com or specific forums within ttlg (like commchat).
You still need to be a registered user on ttlg to use these searches.
I did them because I wanted a quick way to search shockgen. Creating more was easy then. So I take requests.
I already heard that Opera user don't need these. Good for you.

Please forgive me if I'm missing something, but can we not already do that?

Of course you can. A search plugin is just another way. It may be easier or quicker to use one in some circumstances than to go via the site.

Oh I see now.
Now that I think about it, sometimes I go to TEG with intent to search but I get distracted by the new posts and forget that I was going to search...

Very nice. FFox 2.0 seems to have a search plugin discovery feature: Similar to the way in which the RSS button appears in the address bar, the search engine selection button 'glows' when FFox detects a downloadable search plugin. Visit Google.com or Wikipedia.org with FFox 2.0 to see what I mean. Perhaps we can offer a similar function here?

It's a great idea and something I'd got on my list of little things to do once Firefox 2 was released as an update to the original set I wrote a while back.
Kolya, would I be able to use yours as a basis to make an auto-generated set?

More toys! Yay!
Seriously, this will save me some time in the future.
