Oi, search function down again?! I typed in 'Lorgan's Web' an' 'Ominous Bequest, but no results?
David on 11/6/2004 at 11:11
Removing the apostrophe from Lorgan's Web got a bunch of results. I didn't have to do anything to get 133 Ominous Bequest results.

<a href="http://www.ttlg.com/forums/search.php?searchid=9059">http://www.ttlg.com/forums/search.php?searchid=9059</a> (searching with <i>lorgan* web</i> - I think the apostrophe confuses it).
<a href="http://www.ttlg.com/forums/search.php?searchid=9060">http://www.ttlg.com/forums/search.php?searchid=9060</a> (I didn't have to change anything here - perhaps you mistyped it on the search page?).
<b>Edit</b>: Damn. Not fast enough, it seems.
<b>Edit</b> again: However, there is an actual problem when searching for another mission.

The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search : <b>the, keep</b>
I guess there's not much that can be done about that, though...

Just a guess, I don't know too much what I'm talking about... maybe when you use an apostrophe Its thinking OMG!! U R TEH SQL INJECTORZ and just says "no results" instead of "Hey don't do that"
David on 11/6/2004 at 16:45
Its possible, but its also easy to remove apostrophes from the search query before executing it, as it appears to return the correct results.

I wonder where the list of common words is held? It doesn't appear to be a option. Hrm, maybe I will ask.
Yeah but allowing words like "the" and "keep" will return EVERY THREAD, EVER. What the search needs is an exact phrase option.
David on 11/6/2004 at 18:17
I guess, however as the search fucntion uses a search index I expect that it doesn't even index the common words which means an Exact Phrase wouldn't work.

Hmm, isn't it possible to somehow include a google search option into TTLG, so that you don't have to use the above syntax? I mean, like there is "Search only sites in German/French/...", "Search only TTLG" would be helpful.
[EDIT] (
http://www.google.com/searchcode.html#both) This seems to be what I was having in mind.
