Is it just me? There seemed to be a problem with the data base earlier today. Only lasted a few minutes but now when I'm doing a search the page is coming up blank. I see I get sent down to the bottom of the page for searching but is there anything else I'm missing in the new look?
Just trying again, it works searching a thread but not a forum.
And again, posting a reply, none of the spoiler, quote or bold etc work for me.

It's happened a few times to me over the past week (the DB error thang), not just with the search page. I imagine they are on it.

Thanks Scotts_Taffer - Good to have company!
And all is back to normal today.

Search function seems borked again.
Not returning any results at all, and allowing unlimited searches, rather than 1 every 20 seconds (although with no results being returned it hardly matters ;)).

It is working fine.
If no results are returned you are not asked to wait 20 seconds between searches. It is also returning results perfectly well for me.
What are you searching for?

I try searching the tech&troubleshooting forum for "TFT", it declares no results. Which can't be right?

The search used to, and may still, ignore words less than four letters long. David talked about dropping back to three letters but I don't know if that's been implemented yet.

Mmm, yeah, it probably wasn't working for me because I was looking for two words, one of 3 letters and one of 4 letters.
David on 19/12/2005 at 19:04
Cleverly I put the variable that defines the minimum word length in the wrong section of the configuration file.
I've moved it to the correct section, but now I have to rebuild the fulltext indices again, so the forums may be a bit sluggish for a while.
