I need to drop the search indexes and rebuild them. After the big Server Crash of 2006 the fulltext min word length was reset to 4 characters, but vbulletin things it is 3.
Unfortunately this needs quite careful scheduling so I won't be able to immediately do it.

Could you please provide an example of things you are searching for?
It's just weird, plain and simple.
I've tried searches like "Just Take A Look", "Gathering at the Bar", "The Den", "Fall of a Chook", "up an old", "A Raw list", "Download or Cd", "for a long": things that I know are there, but some work, some don't.
"just take a look" returns nothing, and so does "the gem", "the den", "what hap to".
It's just random. If "for a long" turns up hundreds of hits, why doesn't "just take a look"? Something's not consistent.

I see. 'Just' 'take' and 'look' are all part of the (
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/fulltext-stopwords.html) list of words not indexed by the forum database software because they are just too common and would skew any results too heavily by appearing in a massive (if not all) number of posts.

Ha! This thread is well timed. I was just about to ask about this very thing. I was trying to use the search feature last night. I was searching for 3DS Max, but I kept getting the no matches found message.
This baffled me because I knew there where threads with the words 3DS Max in them (cause I'd just been reading a couple of them ). Ah well, at least now I know it's not me doing something wrong :cheeky:.

Hit Deity I tried that link, still no joy :tsktsk:.

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
The broken search feature is not that bad after all, because it's forced me to slowly go through every post in the T3 Editor's Guild. So I'm finding heaps of useful stuff that I didn't even know I needed to know .
Well it's one way to make people learn :cheeky:.

You can't link to search IDs. They only work for about an hour as they are cached in case someone else (or you) performs the same search in a short period.
