While not a fan of the homebirth idea myself, it had become a bit of a trend in the UK just before I left (I have family in midwifery) among many reasons for it coming into fashion was the fact that in some hospitals (though the tabloids made it out to be
most) post-op/post-procedure patients ran a risk of catching infections (or worse,
SUPER INFECTIONS) didn't help matters.
I don't think home births are necessarily dangerous. We actually had two midwives and we are also only a few minutes from the hospital, so I wasn't particularly worried.
I'm a bit too knackered to discuss it much at the moment mind you ;) I didn't get a huge amount of sleep and my brain isn't quite engaged.

Congrats Scumble. You do know I hope, that kids born in pools get the nickname "Bubbles"? :cheeky:

Absolutely precious children, scumble! You and your wife make adorable babies. Congratulations to you both!
P.S. I did the same: had my second while my 1st was still 'toddling'. Lost an amazing amount of weight during those first six months after my 2nd was born; also lost an amazing amount of sleep. All the best to you! Now the fun really begins!! :thumb:

Congratulations scumble!! You have a beautiful family.
My wife is 11 weeks pregnant right now. It's our first. We will be using a midwife and giving birth at a birthing center. My wife's idea and she sold it on me over a hospital quite quickly.

I wanted to do the midwife thing, went through the whole nine yards on the preparations, getting ready, all that. When it came time, it didn't work out like that. I ended up having an emergency C-section.
So much for planning. The baby in the end will make the final decision.

scumble! They're all beautiful. \o/
Congrats on the home birth; I hear it has many advantages. (Is the huge pile of laundry an important part of the whole set-up? ;))
