I don't think I mentioned the wife was pregnant again - 2007 was a bit of a stressful year, but 2008 brings Seb's brother Theo!

http://chromatic-1.dnsdojo.org/images/Theo4.jpgHe was born at 2:30pm GMT on January 4 (yesterday now). It was a home birth in a pool we set up in the cellar, and we hired a doula (birth partner) to help get Cheryl through the ordeal. My main purpose was to keep the pool warm, which involved hauling buckets of cooler water up the stairs and hosing hot water back down.
After about 12ish hours of labour, Theo's head emerged as Cheryl pushed brilliantly, and then the rest of him popped out.
So far he seems a pretty relaxed baby, which is probably what we need while dealing with a toddler at the same time. A good sign at least!
I'm rather pleased that the home birth went so well and there was no need to go to the hospital - definitely a much more comfortable environment for Cheryl, and no traveling involved either.
Now I have to find a good way of getting all that water out of the basement...

Congratulations, scumble! Happy Daddyship Part II. All the best to your wife, home births are a dangerous thing but more power to her, and here's to a great 2008 for your family. It's especially nice that Seb has a same-sex sibling in Theo, I hope the same is true for Evelyn if and when Scots II: The New Batch comes around - though maybe you or Cheryl wanted a girl?

Congratulations. I went through 4 *2 of each* enjoy it while you can. As they get older they do get a little less lovable. :) But it's worth it.
Cute kids. Your wife does good work. :thumb: :thumb:

While not a fan of the homebirth idea myself, it had become a bit of a trend in the UK just before I left (I have family in midwifery) among many reasons for it coming into fashion was the fact that in some hospitals (though the tabloids made it out to be
most) post-op/post-procedure patients ran a risk of catching infections (or worse,
SUPER INFECTIONS) didn't help matters.

I'm no doctor, but infections would be a pretty big risk in a home birth as well. While you would probably reduce the risk of getting super infections, you'd probably increase the risk of contracting the regular kind.
