The speed and aggressiveness with which Squeenix is going after anyone posting these videos strikes me as kind of odd, really. This sort of behaviour is usually reserved for super pre-alpha videos with obvious bugs and AIs in reference poses and untextured areas, but this demo seemed to be showing off two basically complete areas of the game. Trying to hide the fan enraging aspects seems like most logical explanation, but they're going about it all wrong. If they want to do something to assuage our fears they need to release some clean hi-res videos focusing on the character interactions...

so why not improve on that childish notion of having to have a bad 80s military dialogue guy for the cheesy oneliners. I thought they wanna trump it, bring it into the "new age", a game crafted after HL2, STALKER, Vampires BL, Alpha Protocol, not something straight out of my 80s VHS collection. This is not why I am fond of DX1 - at least not anymore - and why I play the game so often. It's all the things I miss in other games the lets me keep coming back. We will see if I can turn on my jump aug in the mission hub and get to some rooftops or trick patroling robots to attack civilians or just mow down an entire district and see how long it takes for them to respawn - if ever. if anyone ever will tell me not to visit the lady's room. I'm not measuring DXHR against the old DX1, I'm measuring it against a DeusEx that I imagine being released NOW.

Yup, this is a console game to the core.
It's hardly a surprise.

Impressive graphics, design and animation...but other than that it doesn't really seem like a Deus Ex game.

Im in so many ways happy that they improved on the worst part of deus ex, the combat system. Way more fluidity now.
And I'm happy that we're finally getting a game better than deus ex 2.

I think you do have to bear in mind it is pre-alpha, and also that they are showing off the extremes of all gameplay features. As someone mentioned, maxed out augs/energy/ammo etc. And though it probably doesn't have any difficulty settings yet, that was probably "Easy" :P
I don't have a problem with the general use of 3pp for certain moves, and I'm sure the over the top finishing moves won't be usable all the time- e.g. maxed out aug, drains half your energy type thing...
As far as stupid bot AI....pre-alpha...give em time.
Edit: however if I hear one more person say "dee-ous ex" I'm gonna hunt them down...

Out of curiosity, what do you think was wrong with Deus Ex combat system?
As for a "better" game than Invisible War, I don't see what can make you believe that.

This would be so awesome without all the 3rd person crap and the one button auto kill. Someday developers will understand that games are meant to be played, not watched... maybe.
The automatic takedowns compromise the immersion for sure. One moment you're playing the game, then one moment you're watching the game play itself, and then control is returned as abrutply as it was taken -- lame. I'm reminded of the automated attacks from Assassin's Creed -- not a game I want DE3 to resemble in the slightest bit.
As for the contextual third person perspective, however, I am on the fence. The question for me is, is the shift from first person to third another a substantial enough of a compromisation to Deus Ex's once outstanding immersive gameplay, or is it perhaps a necessary mechanic? In the original Deus Ex, leaning over a corner in its lone first person perspective left the enemy AI an apparent wide view of the player, while the player's view of himself, huddled against the corner of a brick wall, and how visible he actually was, was quite limited. With the third person perspective, the player can see what's happening in the scene, as well as with himself.
My belief is, a first person video game shouldn't deviate from its first person perspective, ever. Deus Ex already has that rule broken in the first game with its cutscenes, so I don't see why the rationally present contextual third person events make the situation any more of a desecration to the Deus Ex frandchise.
On another note, I thought the smashing through the wall was pretty cool, save for it being automated. If it could be done, then the person(s) on the other side had time to react, then I could see it panning out as an interesting dynamic to gameplay.
