Thief Gold,
Whenever I start a mission I can move for like 7 seconds but after that my screen freezes but sounds keep on playing.
(Screen's frozen but the person'll still talk)
Patches:
-Thieffixedg.exe (This happened before this patch to)
Specs:
Pentium 4
Nvidia 8600 gts 512mb
1.5 RAM
Note:
After freezing it won't "unfreeze" nor crash, I have to manually shut it with ctrl+alt+del
Thanks in advance,
Typhon

What operating system (W98-Win2K-XP-Vista)?
Have you set the affinity for one (1) CPU. Multi-core processors don't work with any of the THIEF games, as far as I have heard.
Have you tried a different "Compatibility" if you have XP or VISTA?
The games run in WinK2 and W98 compatibility mode in these operating systems.
Is your system a laptop or a Desk unit?
Backing to older drivers with the Nvidia and GeForce cards sometimes help.
The games also have problems with USB devices, gamepads and Joysticks.
Check the Tech FAQ for fixes.

This is one of two things (I had the same issue for the past 5 years, and only now figured it out)...
If you're running WindowsXP, it is either (or both), DirectSound or Hyperthreading. If you are using DirectSound, you'll need to disable it through the DXDiag tool. If you're using a Hyperthreaded processor (in addition to DirectSound), you'll need to disable Hyperthreading in your BIOS.
If you're using Windows Vista, DirectSound has been removed and doesn't apply, but most people running Vista are using Dual/Quad core CPU's. If this is the case, run the game, go back to the Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DLTE), and then right click on the Thief 1 or 2 process and select "Affinity...". Unselect all but CPU 0 and you should be good to go!
