Scottish Tartans Authority have in theyr coat of arms a part of the drawing (the middle) almost like the light gem in Thief. A tartan is the cloth part like in the Highlander movie.

The shuttle does look rather like a light gem, prehaps they supplement their income with a little light thievery (no pun intended).
