What the hell is he talking about?
Also, why don't they just credit the ghost-writer in these things? The idea that Bush actually wrote his own biography is so laughable that no one will believe it.
Though it almost certainly would have been far better HAD he written it himself, without an editor - then it would be hundreds of pages of Bushisms. Wooo. Or does he only do those verbally?
And yeah, if violating international and/or UN agreements is grounds for invasion, then should the entire world be invading the USA right now?

This commuting deal is representative of George W. Bush's entire political career: taking action with the intent of pleasing both sides, but in the end just making both sides angrier.
Gingerbread Man on 6/7/2007 at 22:52
If you think George W's political career is paved with actions taken with the intent of pleasing both sides, you are ignoring the real world again, sir.

We didn't lose a war that had UN sanctions placed on us, and we didn't have UNSCOM weapons inspectors sent in to make sure we disarmed all of our WMD stockpiles. And we damn sure didn't intimidate said inspectors for 12 years while thumbing our nose at the UN because of their lack of real power. We just thumbed our nose at them in a different way with a retarded argument for war.

That's got to be one of the worst lists of justifications I've yet seen.
"We didn't lose a war..." We've lost. We're still there, but the situation isn't salvageable without, at the very least, massive escalation at tremendous expense - which is politically impossible. So, put a fork in it, it's done.
"...that had UN sanctions placed on us..." Iraq didn't get sanctioned for losing, but for occupying Kuwait based on trumped up charges (sound familiar?). We're not getting sanctioned because we have a veto on the Security Council.
"...we didn't have UNSCOM weapons inspectors sent in to make sure we disarmed all of our WMD stockpiles." Yeah, we're bloody well keeping our WMD stockpiles.
"And we damn sure didn't intimidate said inspectors for 12 years while thumbing our nose at the UN because of their lack of real power." We instead ignored the findings of said inspectors while thumbing our nose at the UN because of their lack of real power.
"We just thumbed our nose at them in a different way with a retarded argument for war." ...That too.
I mean, really, it's not that hard to show differences between the U.S. and Saddam Hussein's Iraq, but you're not helping.

Au contraire, mon frere! Bush has done nothing
but trying to please both sides on every issue: the side that believes that the government has no place butting into the free market, and the side that believes the government should give billions of dollars in subsidies and tax cuts to support large corporations; the side that believes that the US isn't answerable to the UN and despises the international community, and the side that believes we have the moral right to force the agenda of dangerously biased ideologues on whatever nation we please by whatever means necessary; the side that believes that the government interferes far too much in the free exercise of religion and the family, and the side that believes that we need constitutional amendments that enforce our nation's Christian Heritage™ when it comes to matters of religious belief and the family. No sir; few Presidents put forth such Herculean efforts at mediation as W.
pfffFFFF HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH OLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
He's been an unmitigated and unprincipled disaster from the get-go, and this latest act of his will be added to the tally of his failures and outright transgressions, which at this point would already qualify for its own encyclopedia.
But you can't hold a whole country responsible for the behavior of a few sick, twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole political system? And if the whole political system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our governmental institutions in general? I put it to you, Gingerbread Man: isn't this an indictment of our entire American society?* Well, you can say whatever you want about our President, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!
*
stalks out of thread humming 'Star-Spangled banner'*
*Oh shit,I forgot- it
IS an indictment of our entire American society. nm my bad peace out.

Hey, numbnuts: try reading. I was referring to how Iraq lost its war against Kuwait and was punished with UN sanctions. I was not in any way, shape, or form referring to the second Gulf War. As for the rest of that I don't even know where you're coming from, but okay. I'll give it to you. I oughta file the "writing a bunch of random shit" tactic as a really awesome discussion killer for future use.

Actually, I believe you'll find Iraq won its war with Kuwait. That's when their real problems began.
