There's a GE plant about 2 miles from my house. They make aircraft engines, and oftentimes you can hear them testing the engines from up to 10 miles away if the wind is right.

Does anyone remember the last time they saw a cheetah on the Discovery channel? They started running nothing but motorcycle shows, so someone made another channel for the nature crap (TLC I think it was) and then they started programming it full of home decorating nonsense, so they made Animal Planet so there was a place for actual animals, and now they've decided to run reality television on that. Fuck if I know where the nature programming is now, as I gave up on television years ago, but I'm sure that whatever channel it's on will be playing reruns of COPS very soon. I remember when A&E had ballet on it - now it has Dog the Bounty Hunter.
There's a term for that: (

One thing that astounds me is that in no other industry do they treat their customers (the viewers) with such disregard and contempt as they do in the television industry.

In Britain there's UKTV History which has presumably run out of WW2 programs and is now renaming itself "Yesterday". Reruns of the news perhaps?

Several weeks ago I ended up looking at the descriptions of the (
http://www.scifi.com/onair/?pageid=movies) original movies on the Sci-Fi channel website. I almost literally smacked myself in the face at what I was reading.
If they really want something that will resonate with their target audience how about S
ty-fy? If they are going to specialize in pig shit (Tin Man excepted) they should let people know what they are about.
ATTENTION! SERENDIPITY ALERT!Damn, this is just too perfect. I found (
http://www.emedicinehealth.com/sty/article_em.htm) this while verifying I had my spelling correct. I thought it fitting, considering.
