You could have the player teleported to a dark room, then start the cutscene with a "fake" Garrett teleported in which you could control. That way you get Garrett involved in the scene, and it no longer matters whether the player was in 1st person when it starts. Then just teleport the player back when finished and get rid of fake Garrett.

As is WMV. I wish people would encode their stuff in open formats like XVid or the like.

Sorry, I'm trying to use formats that won't hog disk space. Normally I won't use wmv or real because I use my mac all the time but I realize T3Ed is a Windows-based program & in order to use it you need Windows (unless wine is able to run TDS now).
I did try to encode w/XVid but it didn't work out. Maybe I'll update these clips if XVid does work for me.

WMV is fine to me, but I agree that divx avi is best
