Saying I don't have enough disk space to save.. - by SubTonic

I've got Thief 1 and 2 working just fine. I got the disk space error trying to load them up recently, but the user.cfg tweak fixed that. However, if I play for a few minutes in any mission and try to save my game, I get an error at the top saying I don't have enough space (Obviously, I do). I really wish I could stop running into problems with these games..
Update: It appears to be working again after freeing some space. I'd like to know about any permanent solutions, though, since this computer is used often and has a steady flow of things coming on and going off it (So my disk space will vary rather often).

i had the same trouble but fixed it by telling it to skip_loading_checks.

That's the fix I used to get it to run, but now it's saying the same thing when I go to save my game. I'm just wanting to know if there's a similar solution for that, like editing another file or adding another line to user.cfg.

I believe that tafferpatcher has a patch for the free space error. Have you tried it? I don't know if it patches the game executable or just adds the skip_starting_checks line like you have done already. If that doesn't work, you may have to modify the game .exe yourself for a permanent fix. In that case, just PM me and I'll look into it.
Update: Quicksaves (alt+s to save and alt+l to load) should not have that problem although it's not a great solution. You should always be able to quicksave if you can't save otherwise. If tafferpatcher doesn't edit the .exe you will have to edit it to bypass the free space check.
