A Beautiful Mind?

Yeah I was trying to stick to recent films, but if you were to include his earlier parts, A Beautiful Mind, LA Confidential and The Insider are both pretty much must see.

That movie is actually pretty horrible, widely considered to be the lowpoint of Disney's cash-strapped dark period. It's charming enough as a kid, yeah, but so are the Wiggles.

I'll watch it for Ridley Scott rather than Russell Crowe. Even if it turns out to be mediocre (Scott doesn't always choose the best screenplays to direct) at the very least it will look good.

I agree with the frenchmen.

Personally, as an adult I enjoy the most out of it by noting where they blatantly steal animation from other Disney flicks like
Jungle Book and
Aristocats. It's still a fun kid's flick though, and I'm pretty sure thefonz was joking (though I can't think of any really good Robin Hood adaptations).

well I know it wasn't shot in sherwood forest or that they never came near nottingham, even thou I drink in the bar where friar tuck would have ate. And it aint 'ye olde trip to jerusalem' as that was a brewery when robin hood was around.
I think they shot it in the 'new forest', that down south somewhere.

Yeah, it's actually got a few memorable things, that whistled tune at the beginning has stuck with me for years, even if it was recently hijacked in a McDonald's advert. In many ways it's remarkable what they managed to do with limited resources. Also the idea of Robin Hood as a cunning fox isn't a bad one. So yes, it exemplifies Disney's self-cannibalisation of that period, but it's far from "horrible", and far from "widely considered so" with a 7.5 on IMDB.

was what I was thinking of when I asked the question. While technically competent, the script is self-serious enough without incredibly self-serious direction, which might be okay if the entire affair wasn't ridiculous on its face. I honestly put it on the list of "Five Films I Have Enjoyed The Least."

just for the record, I still enjoy the Wiggles, especially the Pirate Prancing song.
