(

Obviously it's just a short trailer, but I find the choice of thrash-metal soundtrack over disconnected battle-scenes odd unless they only intend to illustrate the
"This ain't your granddad's Robin Hood!" side of things.
Looks like
Kingdom of Heaven in Medieval England or something.

That's the impression I got. I'll wait for a proper trailer before formulating any solid opinions, but this one didn't really excite me that much, despite me not being averse to seeing a reimagining of Robin Hood.

This is just a teaser to tell us its grittier than the last one. I don't really like Crowe but the style looks superior to the more comic Costner version, imho.
And that's no more trash metal than it is indie pop.

Well if turns out like it seems it will, at least it's got Russel Crowe. If I'm going to watch a silly action movie, it might as well have him going bananas in it.

That last shot is sooooooo Thief-y.

Meh.
Russell Crowe is no Kevin Costner.
Pyrian on 18/12/2009 at 02:50
Neither Crowe nor Costner hold a candle to Cary Elwes. :p (Although, I have to say, Prince of Thieves was ironically funnier than Men in Tights.)

Russell Crowe looks porky in this and his costume is fucking stupid. The last Ridley Scott movie I was excited about was
Gladiator and look how well that turned out :(. This really feels like the latest in the bad trend of demythologizing our legends: Wolfgang Petersen's incredibly stupid
Troy, Antoine Fuqua's even more incredibly stupid
King Arthur, and now this. Why is this necessary?
As for other versions, the best film adaptation of the story EVER was
(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029843/) The Adventures of Robin Hood starring Errol Flynn. It was far from accurate but boy it was fun. I saw Costner's
Prince of Thieves in the theater and I knew I was in trouble as soon as the credits started to roll. I could only get through about two episodes of the recent BBC TV adaptation because it became apparent that it was shit about halfway through the first. By contrast,
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_of_Sherwood) Robin of Sherwood, the mystically-themed adaptation of the '80s, was purely badastic. It would have been awesome if they used it as the inspiration for a feature film.
