I'm glad to hear they've beefed up the gameplay and especially that it plays more like Commandos. Loved Commandos 1 & 2, they were my first introduction to stealth gameplay. :)

I'll be playing the game in a few days, when I finish Borderlands 2 off, so will be able to give a proper opinion of the game then.

Started playing this a few days ago. Initial impressions are good. It uses it's sandbox very well, letting you scope out locations and make up a plan before infiltrating a place. It looks great. Still, I'm not loving it. I like that the gameplay is much more stealth-focused than Syndicate, but the stealth experience isn't terribly deep really. Also, kinda wish I'd picked the pause-with-realtime option at the start. I picked Pure Realtime because I assumed that's How It's Meant To Be Played™, but I'm finding pause would be handy whenever all hell breaks loose. Whenever I get spotted I usually scramble around for a good 10 seconds trying to figure out how to make my guys fire back before I get anything done, and by then a good chunk has been taken out of their lifebar already.
I'm 2 hours in, gonna stick with it a bit further.

The Support guy gets a fantastic "Slow Time" ability that looks and sounds incredible as well as helping with those massive battles where every shot counts.
And the Assassin's knockback ability is essential for stopping enemies calling for back-up.

I think I picked pause with realtime when I started, then practically never used it. Once your agents start getting the good abilities you should have a MUCH better time.
The mind hacking is essential imo. Get that, then start improving the stats for your agents (via sending the newly "persuaded" npc`s off to your cloning places (spread out throughout the map).
One thing I'll warn is that the last battle is a real bitch. I had no issues with the main campaign at all until then.

6 hours in, and Satellite Reign has me hooked. It took a while for this to really click with me, unlike other strategy games I've played recently(Invisible Inc, Steamworld Heist, XCOM 2). Partly this is probably because I've been away from real time strategy for so long, but also it's because a lot of it's systems are opaque and unintuitive. For instance, to execute a Knockback Shot with the sniper rifle I have to select knockback and then left click on an enemy to fire it, not right click, like you ususlly do to fire. So I was just going along, right clicking to do knockback shots and being confused about why it didn't do anything special, or even knowing exactly what it was supposed to be doing. Unless Malf had mentioned a couple posts up that I was supposed to be able to interrupt soldier calling reinforcements with it, I probably still wouldn't have figure out that I was doing something wrong.
Anyway, I've done all the missions in Downtown, hacked all the ATMs, leveled my squad up a lot, and I'm ready to move on to the Industrial Zone.

If the game had received a bit more funding then the other 2 stretch goals of extra zones (1 per stretch goal) then the game would have been a bit larger. Shame. As is though it's fine.
Not heard a peep out of the company that developed it (5 Lives Studios) since the games release, other than occasional Kickstarter updates about multiplayer. Surprised they've not been off making other games since then.

How Satellite Reign made me feel clever, then dumb, then clever again
So, I was just infiltrating this base to access a console. There was a high vent at the back, which I could get into with my Infiltrator, who has cool jumpy-robo-legs that let her jump up to high vents. The rest of the team stayed outside, as I figured the Infiltrator could probably do this on her own. Only, I hadn't gotten far before my progress was barred by a big door. The only way to get through it would be to hardwire it, for which I'd need the Soldier. No way I'm bringing his slow, lumbering ass in here I thought, there's gotta be another way! And then I realized there is! The door won't open for me, but it'll open for enemy units. Using the Infiltrator's camoflage ability I was able to wait outside the door and then sneak in behind a guard when he went through. Jackpot! Then I just sauntered over to the nearby console... and realized I needed the Hacker to use it. D'oh! Slapped some jumpy-robo-legs on my hacker and got him through the vent as well, but seeing the heavy guard presence in the area I had seconds thoughts about trying to have the Hacker repeat the Infiltrator's door-sneaking-trick. There's gotta be another way, right? YES! Using the Hacker's Hijack-ability I MINDJACKED a patrolling guard and, when there weren't a lot of other guards around, used him to escort my hacker through the door. Piece of cake! :)

Hah! Glad you're enjoying it henke.
What I love about the game are those long, protracted battles that inevitably ensue when your carefully laid plans are upset by that one guy you forgot about. That and slapping it in to slow-mo and watching everything unfold in a beautiful clockwork explosion.

The battles against the huge robots I found quite difficult. Though once your weapons and skills are moderately good, they are less of an issue.
