It's a videogame not real life.
Anyways. I love the look of the video, and that music. My god I love that music. The game already looks and feels like Syndicate. Yay :D. More so Syndicate Wars than the original, but that's fine.
Looks like the different class styles is already implemented + police response to illegal actions.

Isometric or not, they've succinctly captured the essence of Syndicate.
And at this point in development, that's all that really matters because it's obvious they get it. High hopes for Good Things.

Damn straight. Totally agree.
It's the progress videos that flow from here on that will prove most interesting. Look forward to seeing battles with other syndicate agents.

The reviews that I've seen so far have been mostly positive. I had almost forgotten this game already, to be honest, but reading these reviews actually made me feel quite excited about it again. I got the impression that Satellite Reign is a lot like Syndicate (but not too faithful to it), but it has a control interface that actually works and makes sense, it's kind of an open world game, and it's much more tactical than Syndicate (which admittedly doesn't take much, but sounds like stealth for example is a valid gameplay approach). I'm looking forward to trying this game out myself.

The analogy RPS used was that Satelite Reign has far more in common with the Commandos series than Syndicate, and that the resurrection stations take away much from the risk and tension side from the game, since you can just rez and be all good in no time.
Also that you never really see an impact on the city from the missions you complete. So to expect that what you see on starting a new game is what you'll be seeing (city wise) by the end.
That said, I recall similar things being present in Syndicate and Syndicate Wars.
I remember asking the developers at PAX about things like that when I visited their booth last year, and wasn't given a concrete answer at the time.

Not so sure about Commandos (I played a very little of it a long time ago), but I think the game that's most similar to Satellite Reign for me is Dawn of War 2 (single player).
Personally, I love DoW2, so I'm like a pig in the proverbial :)
It's got a LOT of the same ideas, such as destroyable cover, highly specialised units and a wealth of cool upgrades. If you enjoy that kind of skirmish-level strategy from DoW 2, I suspect you'll enjoy Satellite Reign.
And it's really cool when things spiral out of control yet you still manage to pull victory from the jaws of defeat thanks to clever use of the tools it offers you. Sure, the criticism that your efforts leave no lasting effect on the world has some merit. But for me, the combat has so far very much been the reward. The map is primarily there to give combat depth, and you can make your own fun simply by picking one of the compounds to invade. No two encounters are ever the same.
