So they have a Rift devkit now. I really don't how see Rift support will work in an isometric perspective game (or ANY non-first person view game for that matter), but whatever.
(

A more fleshed out world is a great thing to have for an immersive style game like this.

Be much like playing the 2D mario game on the Nintendo Virtualboy back in the 90s, minus the color restrictions. 1st thing that sprang to mind.
However if they introduced some sort of first person mode, then it could work. Though I'd rather the game stick with top down.

It might actually be neat if the game functioned sort of like a virtual warroom, where you can actually walk around a table (the game map), lean in to look closer at your troops, look away at a wall with mission briefings, etc.

That would be awesome

I'm seeing the headlines now "gamer falls 15 stories after walking backwards for better tactical view through open window".

I just watched one of the trailers again, and it's
definitely not isometric.
It's a normal modern-day 3D perspective, by the looks of it. A bird's eye view, I presume, in which case I expect the Rift would be fine.

Nice pedantry.

http://iforce.co.nz/i/uvfeba5k.e0v.pngLook, pre-alpha footage. Awesome progress so far, they've only been in development since September or so but they already have a A.I. city simulation with pedestrians, vehicles, police, etc. Notice how the player just started a combat skirmish out of the blue? I expect great potential for once all emergent gameplay!
Really nice touch on idle camera movement having an airborne camera panning effect. Adds to the world immersion by giving the player the impression that they're a corporate puppetmaster, looking down on the world through the use of orbiting satellites.

We are really excited to give you a first glimpse of Satellite Reign today in glorious 1080p. But first the disclaimers, its very much a pre alpha build being demoed, nothing here is really final, the UI, audio, weapons and effects are 100% placeholder, in fact it’s so early we weren’t going to show any combat or civilians, but..
The video was actually meant to demonstrate the agents coats reacting to wind from the cars zooming by, but before we knew it we were showing crowds of civilians, CCTV cameras, cover usage, x ray camera mode and even a couple of enemies.

If you're talking about the way the camera view randomly rotates left and right, I found that obnoxiously distracting, and nothing at all like real-life aerial camera footage.
