Setting of it according to the kickstarter page:
The world's governments are controlled by mega-corporations, democracy to the highest bidder. Society is structured for the benefit of those in power. The poor exist in the dark squalid underbelly of the city, while the wealthy swim in opulence and luxury on the upper tiers, and the vast middle-class are too comfortable with their lives of convenience to see the world for what it really is. Corporate police patrol the streets, brutally maintaining the status quo, all under the guise of keeping the people safe.
The time for change is now, as a mysterious organisation rises from the slums of the city. They'll have to bribe, steal, hack and augment their way through the barriers between them and their ultimate goal...but what are they trying to achieve? To free the masses from the corporate stranglehold, or to take control for themselves? That, is up to you.
Sounds nearly 100% exactly like Syndicate.
Though for gameplay:
Satellite Reign is a real-time, class-based strategy game. You control a team of four agents, each with distinct and unique abilities, collectively battling for control of a fully simulated, living cyberpunk city.
The game world is designed to facilitate emergent gameplay, giving you the tools and freedom to play how you want to play, so you can create strategies and scenarios that not even we had anticipated!
Customise your team with the strength to destroy your enemies head-on, or hack into their facilities to manipulate their infrastructure without them ever knowing you were even there.
Will you take down your enemies with brute-force? Covert espionage and infiltration? Or will you use propaganda to influence the citizens of the city and overthrow the controlling powers?
4 agents - Check
Class based Strategy game - No
Cyberpunk city - Check (more in Syndicate Wars than the 1st game though)
World ruled by Megacorps - Check
Ability to customize team - Check
Ability to augment your agents - Check
Options on how to take out your enemies - No (though that sounds really fun)
Sounds even better in theory atleast than even Syndicate was as more options generally = greater replayablity + overall more fun. Though Syndicate does have a large amount of it's fun factor from the simplicity of it, in that you could just max your agents up on drugs, send them to the middle of an intersection then sit back and watch the mayhem.
I'll definitely be backing this one. More Syndicate and expanded on? Yes please :D.
[edit]
The agent in the kickstarter video even shoots the camera just like in the original intro to the first game. Awesome.
1 minor criticism: You only get to work to take down the MegaCorps, it would be better to give the player the choice at the beginning of the game to either work for them or against them, as half the fun in the earlier games (for me anyway) was playing AS the bad guys.
[edit 2]GOD DAMN. Their getting the guy who did the music for the original first game on board for it. Hell to the motherfuckin yeah baby :D.

I liked Syndicate, though I think mostly for the novelty of the open world, the Persuadetron, and being able to drive around in cars. The setting and music were ace as well. The gameplay was pretty weak though. Most of the time it was just click to move your character->click on enemy until he stops moving->repeat. I like that these guys are revamping that a bit by introducing 4 different classes, but I'd still like to hear more about how it'll actually play before I'm convinced to pledge any money. How, exactly, won't the combat just boil down to clicking on dudes again?

Well I think this is one of those cases where if you loved the original you'll love this, but if you didn't then you'll hate it.

Diablo with clumsier controls, but with miniguns.
Speaking of miniguns, there's not even a mention of miniguns on the kickstarter page. Syndicate without miniguns is like cake without flour!
Now I have to embed this intro movie from Syndicate Wars (one of my favourite game intros of all time, I especially love the part with miniguns) to calm myself down:

I wonder how I managed to use the word "miniguns" five times so far in this message, but hey, miniguns
are awesome.

I owned syndicate wars and completed both campaigns, but the rts RT clusterfuck of syndicate is something i'll avoid since there are so many tasty rpgs on the kickstarter horizon, especially now that i'm 30.
Unless they have a mechanic to slow down time (possibly a drug, like in the originals) so that there is a slim possibility of dividing teams, will not buy. (a option for divided screens for seperate teams or multiplayer where each player controls agents on the same team would be awesome too)

Woo woo, too! Big Syndicate fan here. Flamethrower, please.:ebil:

Good call Nuth, I had forgotten the flamethrower. :o But... but... minigun, please!
I actually bought Syndicate on the GOG sale a few days ago, and I've been playing it a bit. Despite of the terrible controls, it's still quite fun to play actually! The pathfinding makes me want to cry though... :(
But (
http://youtu.be/ts5OGIDhz_s?t=4m15s) the music is still amazing, I sometimes find myself humming along to it when I'm walking around the city in real life... is that a worrying sign? :p Hey, it's great walking music, one of my favourites together with the Imperial March from Star Wars.
Heh, I can remember how I thought that the game looked totally amazing back in 1993, and while the graphics could have aged much worse, the city environments just feel so dead now. Syndicate Wars tried to fix some of that, and I remember how fun it was to blow up whole buildings and how cool the 3D view was, but for some reason I never liked that game as much as the first one.
I'm looking forward to this new Syndicate now.
