Sadly I'm in Northern Ireland, Biker, but your kind offer is appreciated!

Right I had a quick chat with MSI UK and they said the drive should work as they are not aware of any limits.
If you have a mate with a newish pc plug the drive into his motherboard and see if it pics it up. Also have you check the obvious, the power and sata date cables..?

2 power cables, 2 power sockets, 2 data cables, 4 SATA sockets. I'll see if any of my buddies have a SATA rig and check it with them, otherwise it just goes straight back. Thanks Biker.
Oooh, just though - I have a computer class on Thursday taken by our local college's senior sysadmin. I may be able to ask him to check it over.

Turns out the bastids slipped a £25 charge onto my credit card when I wasn't looking, without asking. That's getting cancelled sharpish.

well there is a disclaimer stating that if you send good back and they are faulty, they "might" charge you - so be nice and explain the steps you have taken to remedie the issue you have had and they should refund the charge.
How did it go with your sysadmin guy...?

Oh, I knew there would be a charge, but I kinda expected an invoice and all that before they just use my credit card details like that.
Won't see the sysadmin until tomorrow.

Aaaaand the sysadmin confirms that his motherboard doesn't pick up the drive either (it actually makes the slot 'disappear' in his BIOS when he plugs it in), plus he was able to overhear 'strange mechanical noises' coming from it.
Time for it to go back to Overclockers, I think - plus I think I'll have to charge them for two postages etc etc.

Speak to them on the phone 1st, explain the whole saga, and that you politley want your £25 plus 2x(£6?x2) lots of return postage and the price of the drive refunded. (Im guessing £80+25+6+6=£127 at this point), its far easier to agree who pays what before hand while everything is still friendly.
If you get any shit from them, PM all your details invoice etc and I will have a word with them.
