What happened? Now that I have the tweak installed, nothing works properly!
When I try to get into windows, my monitor goes blank, and a box pops up with an error:
OUT OF RANGE
30Hz-70Hz H
50Hz-150Hz V
____________
Current Rate
92.4Hz x 220.7Hz
Now, the only way I can get in Windows is through Safe Mode!
BTW, I have:
Win 98se
Radeon 7200 32Mb

You've obviously been fiddling with the overclocking sliders, juts reset them to defaults.
Darkwarrior_II on 30/11/2002 at 18:07
Something messed up your monitor's refresh rates.
I'm not sure how to fix that in safe mode...

Venroth:
Obviously, I can't change the overclock sliders if I can't even get into windows.
Darkwarrior_II:
There's nothing I can do in Safe mode, because all the support drivers needed to detect problems with devices don't get loaded in safe mode. So, I'm temporarily screwed :grr: UUUGGHH! Safe mode.... it's so horrible!!!
BTW, it may not help that I have an *cough*eMachines*cough*
EDIT:
AAH Crap!
Now, I'm getting a
"indows Protection error. Please restart your computer!"

You can reinstall the software for your card while in safe mode. I just did this myself yesterday, because my brother sort of fucked up my drivers while testing a non-functioning graphics card on my computer. The card didn't work on his, so he was making sure before sending it back. However, it's always nice if one uninstalls software when one wishes to cease using it instead of deleting it (he's always had problems with that). Now I have to deal with a "windows cannot find something or other" message every time I boot. At least it doesn't affect anything else.

Bump!
Hey, someone add this to the FAQ and/or make a news post to get there word out. This problem has been around for 2 years now and was only fixed recently.
ataricom on 5/12/2002 at 02:51
Alright, I got Windows back.:D
Everything's fine..... or is it?
Now Windows won't detect any coms ports, which means I can't use any USB , LPT:, or RS232 ports.....damn.:grr: And MicroSoft's support search engine sure isn't helping me any.
BTW, disabling W Fog and enabling Z Fog and Table Fog doesn't do anything on a Radeon 7200, at least not mine.

Aaah, now why didn't I think of that?:thumb:
EDIT:
I can't seem to find the appropriate driver for Win98. I select Win98 as my OS, Radeon 7200 as my card, and it takes me to the incorrect page. The page has a link to the driver for WinME, not '98. Can anyone redirect me?

Northon - your solution to the Radeon's fogging problem has now been added to the FAQ.
Good work.
