I must be seeing things, or not, because I'm sure I've already replied once to Nicked's post. Anyway, thanks for the info, I'm abysmally ignorant I'm afraid about this type of tool so wouldn't really know what the numbers meant, but am presuming the colours are significant and red = danger. What I'd do though - I haven't a clue. They're not that intrusive so not a problem.
But thank you.

I once uninstalled Fraps while trying to resolve this matter after installing the ATI Tray Tool. D'oh! :laff:
* Right-click your tray icon for ATI Tray Tools.
* Select "Tools & Options" then "OnScreen Display"
* Uncheck "Enable OnScreen Display"

Thank you. Very much appreciate that info. Its probably best that I don't start getting hysterical about flashing red numbers. :D
OK, that's sorted - love it when I get nice clear instructions - thanks again Twist.

I loved the ATI system tray tools on my XP machine with Radeon 9800 pro. WOrked the first time I set up the Z and table fog and dissed the W fog.
Now i got thief to run 99% perfect on this new Vista machine, i got the vids to work, the Multiprocessor to perminantly use core yet The ATI tool try program doesnt seem to make the fog come back.
Did ATI eliminate this fogging from thier card on the HD 2900XT card?

The Ati tool as far as I know isnt compatable with Vista as it installs a device driver that hasnt been whql'd for vista. This is why you cant get it to renable fog. But all is not lost I have heard good things abut the lastest catalyst drivers, fixing the fog. So its been tested on Radeon X1x00 series and it now works again...!!! So can you do us all a massic favour and test it on your HD2900 and come back with the results.
many thanks

Does this latest driver make the fog better than the 'wall of fog' you get on current drivers? And does it work in XP?
I can't use official ATI driver releases on my laptop because they won't install, so I have to wait for the Omega drivers version, or perhaps for IBM to release a package that will install for me.

Nameless Voice, I had the same exact problem as you but there is an easy way around it.
I just modded the latest ATI Catalyst drivers (7.12) to get them to run on my laptop ((
http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/)) and now I have PERFECT FOG! I tested in Dwelling Insanity, compared to the crappy old "wall of fog" effect. I'm a very happy taffer today!!!
EDIT - and yes, I have XP (Professional, SP2)

What the ?!?!
Whoa, does this work on ATI desktop cards, too? I've got a 9600XT, and I would love to see some pretty fog on it... I might just have to update my drivers (still running on late-2005 drivers, 'cause I hate the CCC, but pretty fog might be worth it...)
I'm going to try out ATI's latest drivers tonight!

Yes.
I hated it too, but don't worry about it - the latest drivers's CCC is very clean and simple like the old drivers were. It's not a flashy, 3D, memory-hogging menu like the others. :thumb:
