I was agreeing with you in general. They got the basic gameplay down pat and the splodes were great. Weapons could do with feeling a bit more visceral mind, but overall, I give JC2 about 8 out of 10, maybe falling to a 7 during some of the grindier bits. One would hope that the next game in the series will rectify it somewhat.
back closer to topic, I've got SR2 which I've yet to get into - is it worth playing before I think about SR3?

If you've already got it you should defenitely give it a go. If you like it there's a good chance you'll enjoy SR3 as well. Storywise it's not important to play the earlier parts before starting SR3 though.

The PC version of SR2 has some weird performance issues, mostly expressed as random bursts of single digit FPS for no apparent reason. But other than that it's a fun ride.

It also runs at different speeds depending on how far your CPU is from 3.2gHz (above or below). I wish I were making that up.

Even at this point and with the diverse patches (official and fan-made)? Definitely makes me glad I played the game on my PS3...

Definitely. It's better than SR3 in most respects imo, the weird PC performance issues aside (they didn't give me much trouble, though). Don't forget to install the Gentlemen of the Row mod - more stuff + general improvements.

Ok, cheers for the tips guys.
At this stage, I have a freeze on buying new games while I try to clear my backlog a bit, so when I ask if it is worth playing games, I am trying to prioritise in my mind which of my backlog games I should play first. Once I finish my current games in progress, I feel like maybe it is time I got my teeth into the Assassin's Creed series, as I own the first 3 games and have only made a dent in the first one.
