I'm so happy that Saints Row 4 and its expansions went so far over the top that it rendered it impossible to make any more direct sequels. I'd hate to see a direct follow up fucked into dirt by the woke talentless hacks that have plagued the AAA Western game industry since after 2015. Thank God for indies, Japanese and Eastern European developers.

Um. Sometimes I like the stuff you post, but this time it's absurdly petty and reactionary. You do not have the ability to discern the motivations of a game's creators from its trailers and teasers.

The personality of "we wanna be GTA"? The personality of the Saints Row game didn't really get distilled into its pure essence until Saints Row 3, the series highpoint, which this looks a lot more in line with. And I think rebooting the series in SR3-style is absolutely the right choice. SR4 (where you become president of the USA and fight aliens in the Matrix) was fun in its over-the-top way but where do you even go from there? Hell? Oh wait, they did that. It sucked. Yeah, going back to the start is the right move.

Gat Out of Hell was fun for me because I never expected it to have the same scope as the main entries, it was even priced as an expansion at launch ($20). The story might have been stupid, but the gameplay was basically just more SR4 with new weapons and abilities on a new map.

Oh noes, characters look like generic 2021 20-somethings instead of generic 2005 20-somethings, how will I cope with this. Also, the older I get the more ashamed I am of how everyone around me is turning into Barry Goldwater.
