Hahahaha. And seriously, WTF? Several Billion dollars worth of nuclear deterrent and they just crash into each other? You think they'd pay someone to pay more attention to the sonar.
BBC defence correspondent Caroline Wyatt said the incident was "incredibly embarrassing" for the Ministry of Defence (MoD). No shit.
Want to blow up a NATO submarine? Forget torpedoes. Hell, just get something the size of a brick shithouse, pack it with explosives and drive it, extremely slowly, on an intercept course. Arrrrgh.
Heads need to roll.

I was in Japan when a US sub ran into a Japanese fishing boat. And I remember watching the news report, not understanding a word of the Japanese but seeing these all these technical graphics of a US submarine and somebody explaining how it moved and thinking "great, who did we declare war on now..."

The submarines are equipped with sonar to detect other vessels nearby but our correspondent said it might be the case that the anti-sonar devices, meant to hide the submarines from enemies, were "too effective".
