Why pay for boot camp, when you can just send untrained people right to the front lines, and any survivors will be skilled combatants in short order.
You know that thing where only one guy in three had a gun, and you're meant to pick up the gun from the guy who died in front of you? That was Russia in WWI, but it's often mis-attributed to WWII. It feels like they're bringing that system back now.

I foresee a civil war in Russia in the near future. Forced conscriptions are a vile move, even the most dictator-fearing citizen will revolt if their wellbeing and family are at stake

I can see mass protests like the US had during Vietnam. I don't know about outright civil war. The whole point is the population doesn't want to fight Putin's stupid war, but let him get away with it if they're left alone. So it doesn't really grok that they'd want to fight Putin & the Russian military themselves. But I think the military would show him to the door, or the window if he fights, before it got to that point anyway.

Russia ("Russian Federation") is full of state agencies with a certain level of in-fight "thanks" to URSS legacy. Military is NOT "Ministry of Defense" only.

Be cautious with the comparisons. Mass protests are difficult under tyrant dictatorship where free speech died so long ago that no-one quite remembers where it got buried. Add to that the practice of drafting in impoverished / ignorable areas and targeting potential troublemakers it becomes much easier to just suppress / ignore any discontent.

Yes of course. Writing reports on mass protests under tyrant dictatorships is kind of my day job. I was really making an ex fortiori argument. I don't see mass protests really happening either. But I could imagine them (and there are already protests breaking out now) well before I could imagine outright civil war.

There was an incident in Iran where the fashion police beat a young woman to death for violating the dress code, which, if I understand the official premise correctly, is in place in order to protect young women from the violence of men.
Anyway, so far I've seen nothing from Russia that's anywhere close to the protests sparked over that incident in Iran. It's more like lambs to the slaughter. At least so far.
