Also, there is no equivalence between Russian and Western media. For example, Western countries generally don't jail critical voices, even if it's people like Chomsky. Meanwhile, Russia has outlawed even calling the war a war.
Kremlin mafia really likes to present the "West" as "russophobic" to play the victimhood card, when in fact they planted in the West a good bunch of
useful idiots, those they love to call "foreign state agents" when the "West" does the same thing.....sometimes using political high-controversial (on purpose) figures, sometimes journalists, sometimes intellectuals (anti-UE social-nationalists or veterocommunists of the PCUS era).
We know them really REALLY well here in Italy, but we can't even touch them and they're permeating all the "antisystem" narrative thanks to our laws protecting them (in Russia they will go to jail and disappear for as long as it is needed, just see Navalnj or Nemtsov)
Russia just goes "ALL IN" thanks to this total asymmetry.
About "russophobia", it's just a plain invention mimicking western feverish usage of the word "homophobia"
or just being the opposite of "slavophilia" ( (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavophilia) ). As a proof i'm not russophobic I prefer the latter interpretation, giving russian "elites" some degree of intelligence about their own hystory. Being the "elites" guys like Soloviev or Simonian maybe I'm too much generous.....

Putin is giving amnesty to prisoners to kill Ukrainians, I wonder if Mr. Registered This Month is getting paid a ruble per word! :laff:
Yes, I'm kremlebot :grr:, but... you are opened my eyes! And now I tell you about unimaginable turning upside down in our mediaspace:
We believe that this is Mr. Zelenskiy giving amnesty to prisoners even to those who have been convicted for atrocities.

I get information from multiple sources, I don't rely on either local or Western news organisations as my sole source. Everything, from witness testimony to satellite images to video evidence to open source reporting backs up the fact that massive atrocities are being committed by the Russian forces.
But even this was not enough for the German journalist Lipp, so she went to the Donbass to see the situation personally from the other side. Now a case has been opened against her for "splitting deutsche society." Faces three years in prison.

I hope, Biden reads this forum and makes the right decision on Julian Assange.

lowenz I 'm amazed how immersed you in the topic of ours schizoid ortodox nearfascists marginals. Unfortunately, the marginals in the 90s, beginning of the noughties. Then they are became regulars on talk shows. And the confessors  of Jesus himself (like Tikhon Shevkunov) recruited Putin The Chekist. In recent years sluggish Stalinism has reached a thermal stage.

Damned... "victimhood"... "useful idiots"
Kremlin mafia doing nothing but having fun all these years. There is nothing to fill out the schoolbook "Russia in the World". Except the raid to the Pristina airport and revenge to Saakashvili for our killed peacekeepers in South Ossetia, who were supposed to leave it in a few months.
Whereas west elites was systematically cultivated the emasculated hollow stratum in East Europe which was filled with hate to everything non-Western.

Alina Lipp is a journalist in the sense Alex Jones is one. You'd just have to take one look at her Telegram channel or see one of her appearances on Russian media to see that she's for all intents and purposes Putin's little infowarrior. At best, most charitably, you could say she's a pro-Russia blogger who posts content without any regard to its veracity. And the instances where her "stories" have been proven to be fake have been numerous. Such as her story about a store in Germany being vandalised for carrying Russian products. Here's the actual story, where the incident turns out to have happened 3 years ago and in Russia of all places: (

And here's a local news site reporting about it:

Obama's administration ultimately decided not to prosecute Assange, fearing the situation would pose a threat to press freedom. And the next administration that did decide to try to prosecute him I think you would agree was very much an outlier in how they handled the press and journalists in general. Now, if the US actually brings a case and puts Assange on trial, I would agree that it might signify a turn to a much darker era, no matter what the verdict is. It would be a step towards something that already regularly happens in Russia today. What is feared in the West is Russian reality.

On the other hand he has only posted anti US exposures and was instrumental in trying to shift blame from Russia for the DNC hack so it's obvious to me that he is a Russian stooge. But although he was a broadcaster for purloined espionage and is only against the US I still feel he has done nothing to warrant actual time in jail.

Oddly enough, this thread demonstrates the one domain in which Russia possesses global superiority, namely its Internet disinformation campaigns.

I don't know if they're all that sophisticated or if Americans are just really vulnerable to it. I always felt like the Achilles heel of Americans has always been their indomitable trust & optimism that everything will be fine if you just keep "doing the right thing", and how ludicrously easy it is to package the most abhorrent values as "the right thing" and get them to eat it whole, with all the fervor of a buoyant boyscout.
It's maybe part of why I always felt like a closet European growing up there and often closer to the foreign exchange students in my school than the people that actually grew up around me.
lowenz on 17/7/2022 at 11:04
Thery are not "sofisticated", they just talk to the "bowels" of people and that's perfectly working like a fighter impressing a girl. It's really just that.
You can be "godlike allsmart" but innate heuristics sometimes work better 'cause we're animals.
Russia sells gas AND says ukrainians are in a "nazi" regime? Well, it's just true 'cause I need the gas, no other thoughts needed.
The REAL "problem" of this world is that "simple&stupid shit works on the average person" and that's why progress is precluded to us. We need a catalyst for such things as "peace".
