Maybe weapons manufacturers are taking advantage of the situation and doing live field tests? Russia now seems to be able to knock out older US missiles. OK, good to know. And the new Russian MRBM missile seems to work. Can't get that data in simulation. It's a curious situation. All parties know this will end soon, so why not just take advantage of the lame duck period?
I think this missile volley is just corporate opportunism before, an albeit compromised, mutual peace occurs. If my nearby nuke submarine base is not nuked soon, I will report back in February to see if I am right or wrong. I think this will end by Jan 31, 2025. And it will end in some sort of peace, not fire and brimstone.
Wow, you are really delusional

As long as Ukraine can resist and defend their home, they should absolutely do that.
Fine. Good for them. Not our business though.

If you force Ukraine to capitulate or let Russia win, Russia will use Ukraine's resources to become stronger and will continue the aggression. This will not only pose a threat to other US allies in the world, but makes the likelihood of US getting involved in another war much more likely, especially as countries such as China are bound to take note of it. And this time it will be US troops dying. Russia winning this conflict will only be to the detriment of the US as it will strengthen the enemies of the US and weaken its allies.
On the other side of the coin, the US sending over its obsolete and aging equipment
(that was explicitly built to fight Russia, btw) massively benefits the US. In some cases it's actually cheaper to send it to Ukraine than it is to destroy it and it is a huge boon to US manufacturing industry as modernising the army brings a lot of economic activity to the states where US defence industries are located.

If Russia is dumb enough to keep invading other countries, they will collapse due to imperial overstretch just as they did before. (and just as America is doing currently)

It's certainly a huge boon to the quarterly bonuses of US defense industry CEOs. I wonder how much of that money they funnel back into US politicians' pockets to make sure the war just keeps going, and going...and GOING.
Edit: Not so long ago libs understood that the defense industry doesn't care who is dying, how many are dying, or who wins. They just want to make a profit, by ensuring the war
goes on as long as possible. To see supposed libs turn into warmongers is so weird to me. Some bit flipped in your heads around 2016 I guess.
Have a look at this book when you get the time: (

Because you don't understand how russian fascism works.
We are not talking about Syria or Iraq.
If you want Russia to become the weaponized arm of China (until the national "needs" will make Russia and China enemies) go on and play the pacifist.
It's not something about "how war works", it's about global power players.
RippedPhreak on 22/11/2024 at 18:03
Pacifism isn't the word. If Russia or China had fleets of troops coming across the ocean to the USA on ships and were landing on our beaches soon, I would grab a gun and man the ramparts waiting to shoot at them.
But if two groups of foreigners that I don't care about thousands of miles away want to knock each other on the head, why do I care? Why do I want my government to tax hundreds of billions of dollars from us - per year - to keep it going for as long as possible, just so some Lockheed/Raytheon CEOs can get rich?
To me, ths is as if Kenya and Uganda had some dispute over water rights and the US government swings into action selling arms to both sides. Why does anyone in America care? Totally pointless.

Russia to become the weaponized arm of China
Ukraine is just the excuse: Russia has the military tech, China has the money. You want to give them some big advantage over your country?

But before that eventual collapse, they can do a lot of damage, just like Germany did after they annexed Czechoslovakia and absorbed its state of the art weapons manufacturing capabilities as well as additional manpower.

It's also a boon to the workers in those industries and the factories.

You may think that breaking the Ukrainians is the way out of this conflict, but you have it completely backwards. The only way out of this is for Russia to lose, else they keep trying again and again and again. There is no way Russia can pacify a country the size of Ukraine. Even if Russians manage to conquer all of the territory that they are aiming for, there will still be resistance. There are still to this day car bombs going off in the occupied territories and Russian soldiers and officers are getting killed by poison.

Helping a country defend itself against unwarranted aggression is not warmongering. It is the right thing to do.

I'm always at a loss when someone asks me to explain honor and decency. If you don't understand it then no explanation will help. Here is a country which has true democracy and a free press standing up to a country which does not and has invaded it. A country which has harmed nobody against a country which we have seen invade and put down democracy before. Are we a people of principle and morals? Or are we a dog eat dog supporter of oligarchy? We aren't even being asked to send our own men to the front line holding against aggressive roughshod bullying and thievery.
Republicans of Reagans era would be appalled at meeting those of this generation.

Then what the fuck are you so worried about? Thank you for making the closing statement for my case! Argument over.

This stance leads to the USA rushing all over the world, bankrupting ourselves to fight everyone else's wars for them. And where has that gotten us since...Vietnam, at least?

Yet. And as I alluded to earlier, we do at the very least have trainers and "advisers" on-site showing them how to use these new missile launchers.

Don't even fucking
act like you think Reagan is some kind of hero. Was this a troll post? It will certainly be Alanis-level ironic though, if liberals "re-examine" Reagan and start to idolize him solely due to his global warmaking record.
