Using nukes would not further the goals of Putin and Xi.
Because you think they're acting with a "complete rational" mindset and not a pseudorational mindset.
Are there any possibility to "COMPLETELY WIN ONCE AND FOR ALL"? Yes, using nukes. Others? Not so much.
Is this rational? No, but nothing is rational in war times.

Russia now claims the US was responsible for the drone attack, presumably because it was too embarrassing to announce on day 434 into the "3-day special operation" that the president survived an Ukrainian attack in the Moscow Kremlin:
Quote:
Russia claimed Thursday that the United States was behind an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin that it said was a Ukrainian attempt to assassinate President Vladimir Putin.
The accusation, made without citing any evidence, comes less than 24 hours after Moscow said that it had foiled an overnight drone strike on a building that is the heart of the country's government and Putin's residence.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed Thursday that Washington had masterminded the incident. The U.S. swiftly rejected the accusation, saying it had nothing to do with it, as did Ukraine.
“We are well aware that decisions on such a level of terrorist attacks are made not in Kyiv, but in Washington,” Peskov said in his daily briefing with reporters. “Kyiv only does what it is told to do.”
Peskov dismissed American and Ukrainian attempts to “disown” the drone incident as “absolutely ridiculous.”

I mean, just imagine the US, after they invaded Iraq, announcing that president Bush survived an Iraqi attack on the White House.

...or are they?
Could be a feint. Could be a ploy to get better supplied. Let's hope it's true.

The assassination attempt was when Bush was in Kuwait, not the White House, and it was a decade before the US invaded Iraq.

A ploy of course.

I was reading how Wagner was connected to the RSF (the new branding for the Janjaweed behind all the massacres in Darfur back in the day) which triggered the conflict happening in Sudan right now, including IIRC their overseas adventures in the war in Yemen (of course on the Saudi side), Libya and Chad. Actually wiki says Wagner Group has been "contractors" in 20 different African countries. (The deal with the quote marks is that it reminds me of how the US military would work with warlords committing atrocities in Afghanistan, as warlords do, except suddenly they seemed respectable after the US just started calling them "contractors".)
It just seems, if you look up their actual participation, Wagner always manages to pick the worst group of the lot in any conflict to offer their services, which I guess makes sense if your brand is Putin's SS mercenaries.

Yes, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, head of the RSF, is a gold mine-owning billionaire who is in bed with the Russians. He and Wagner are working together to sell Sudanese gold to fund the war in Ukraine. Of course, his opponent General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan is also in cahoots with the Russians. I have a strong suspicion that the crisis in Sudan is intimately connected with what is happening in Ukraine.
This is what happens though when the West washes its hands of a place, in come the despots and scum of the world like vultures.

Dangerous ploy. In Tsar Vladimir's Russia, squeaky wheel gets greased. Or falls out of a window.
