Any clue how to make the jump over lava pit to avoid hellhound? I keep falling short and landing in lava if I go to the right. Am I missing it, can the jump be done? What gives? Frisco

You just need to understand the secret of jumping in Arx. I.e. that Am Shaegar jumps like a legless kangaroo. You can make the jump, from the top to the closest metal platform, then from that to the other platforms, then to the other side of the room.
I managed it through repeated reloading and desperately pressing the jump key lots in the air (dunno if it helps but it makes me feel better). Definitely helps if you jump near a wall, due to Am's peculiar stickyness, he seems to cling to walls.

Well, if you move fast, you can simply keep the grate closed, then open it from the other side before the hellhound gets you.
